Membership Benefits

What does your SDNA membership mean for you? It means that you are a part of an influential and effective network of registered nurses who support, promote, and protect the profession of nursing . Our affiliation with the American Nurses Association (ANA) also generates those benefits on a national level. Both organizations conduct political lobbying activities, SDNA at the state level and ANA at the national level, to advance the nursing profession, improve health care standards and practices, and advocate for nurses at every level.

Additionally, membership in SDNA offers many excellent opportunities for individual nurses to improve their skills, network with other professionals in the state and actively participate in raising public awareness about health care issues and the nursing profession. Some of our yearly events include an annual Nurses Day at the Legislature in Pierre each February, Rekindle Your Passion for Nursing in Brookings each April and our Convention every October. Check out our Calendar of Events for specific dates and locations.

There are many ways to get involved in SDNA. We have many leadership opportunities as well as a variety of committees within our organization that allow you to become involved in areas that interest you. Additionally , there are eleven SDNA districts across the state of South Dakota . These districts each hold their own meetings and events on a local level. Participating in these meetings or serving on committees planning these events is a great way to get involved and network with local SDNA members.
